Have you ever thought about working with a dietitian? Maybe you’ve never really known we existed or maybe you just never understood what we have to offer. Watch or read along to learn what I do as a dietitian:
What do dietitians do?
I was talking with a patient recently who was telling me that her doctor had been telling her to see a dietitian for a long time, but that she was hesitant to do it. She knew from previous experience that dietitians just handout lists of foods to avoid and foods to eat – and that didn’t really appeal to her, she’s heard it all before.
I am so thankful that she ended up deciding to give it another try and with me she’s seen that dietitians can do a whole lot more than that.
What I do when I work with patients:
➡️ Assess nutrition and medical history
➡️ Listen to and understand your concerns and goals
➡️ Strategize an action plan to help you meet your goals
➡️ Making nutrition advice work for you and your daily life
➡️ Provide accountability
➡️ Help you explore your relationship with food
➡️ Find sustainable changes that are realistic to follow
➡️ Understand barriers to change and strategize around them
