The Way Out

Amy’s Friday Favorites 💜 Up next in my Friday Favorites series is the book The Way Out by Alan Gordon. This book is a favorite because of the difference it made in my life with my own chronic pain and symptoms. Watch or read along to learn more.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy

Alan Gordon was one of the people interviewed in the podcast episode I shared as my Friday Favorite last week (Science vs. Chronic Pain). And that is how I learned about him, pain reprocessing therapy and his book “The Way Out”.

I read Alan’s book shortly after hearing the podcast episode back in October of 2021. I was excited to think that there was something I could do to help my pain (outside of just waiting the 6 weeks to see a neurologist). This book was eye opening. I learned so much about the way pain works in our brains and our bodies and it really resonated with the type of pain I was experiencing.

In the book Alan shares his own story of recovery from chronic pain (as well as a host of other chronic symptoms) and the stories of many of his patients as well (from his work as a pain reprocessing therapist).

If you’ve been dealing with chronic pain or other chronic symptoms I’d encourage you to give this book a read. It can shed some new light on difficult-to-treat chronic symptoms.
