Testimonial from a Walnut Creek resident:
Working with Amy has been life changing. I came to Amy with another flare up of severe digestion issues and a limited diet. It’s only been a few months and I’m already eating so much more than I was when we met.
Heather, Walnut creek California
I highly recommend working with Amy. She is very knowledgable and experienced in nutrition. She has taken the time to really understand the holistic view of my overall health and how it impacts my gut. That’s been instrumental and so helpful for me.

Do I need a referral to see a dietitian in Walnut Creek?

What happens in the first session with a dietitian?
The first session includes a thorough assessment of your medical and nutritional history. It’s a chance for me to hear your story, what’s worked, what hasn’t and what changes you’re hoping to see. After the assessment we work together to make an action plan with some concrete steps you can take right away. And we finish by making a plan for following up.
How long are nutrition counseling sessions?
The initial session is 55 minutes and follow ups are up to 45 minutes.
Do dietitians create meal plans?
Sometimes! In my practice I focus mostly on helping my patients build the skills they need to meal plan and build sustainable eating routines. And, when more guidance is needed, we can build specific meal plans together in session.
What’s the difference between a nutritionist and a registered dietitian?
The term “nutritionist” isn’t a regulated term and anyone can use it to describe themselves. The term “Registered Dietitian” (or “Registered Dietitian Nutritionist”) is a regulated term. Only those who have completed specified academic course work, completed a period of supervised practice, passed a national registration examination, and complete ongoing continuing education can be called “Registered Dietitians”.
